ABOUT IT
I have been working on this since the beginning of my fall semester of college. I just thought that I'd give poetry a try. At first I couldn't write a single stanza of poetry. It wasn't until I was assigned poetry assignements for my creative writing classes did I really begin writing. Like the description says, it is a book of "experimental poems"; what I mean by that is that I have not fully developed my style. I put together these poems just for my purposes (to get my feet wet, so to speak) and it was very therapeutic, for me at least, just to write down what was happening.
ABOUT THE COVER
I took some inspiration from the iconic Scarface movie. It was heavily inspired by that simple black-and-white poster, with Al Pacino's titular character holding a gun. Mine, however, holds a notebook. I actually created this design when I was in high school for a photography class then I also re created it using india ink for my AP Art Studio class my senior year. It just looks so damn cool!
POEMS
The poems, like I said vary in style. I was mostly inspired by Billy Collins for some of these poems. Poems that I have compiled in the book are City Bop (which can be seen and viewed in the Poetry Tab, here on my site), a revised version of Reminiscing and My Brother's Wounds (both are also on this site), and other poems that I have worked on this entire year.
